Our Customer is a Finnish company specializing in educational technology and preparatory courses. Established in 2010 and headquartered in Helsinki, our Customer develops innovative learning materials and teaching methods, particularly for university entrance exams in fields like medicine, engineering, and business.

Their flagship product is widely used in Finnish high schools to enhance science education. The company emphasizes active learning approaches, enabling students to progress at their own pace with the support of experienced educators.

They are now seeking a designer to replace their current designer, who is going on parental leave.

About the team

9 developers: 7 based in Finland and 2 based in Ukraine.
1 current designer (who is going on parental leave).

Assignment description

The designer will play a central role in the project, working on their digital study platform and collaborating closely with developers and the founder to enhance their newly added U.S. SAT study platform, which is currently being refined.

The team follows design sprints and regular stand-up meetings, with structured three-week sprint cycles.

In this role, you will have frequent interactions with developers, the founder, and other key stakeholders to align on the business, design, and technical aspects of the platform.

Must-haves

• UI/UX Design Experience – Strong background in designing engaging and user-friendly digital platforms.
• Prototyping & Wireframing – Proficiency in tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
• User Research & Usability Testing – Ability to analyze usability issues and suggest improvements.
• Collaboration & Communication – Comfortable working with a distributed team, engaging with developers, and taking business requirements into account.
• Web Design Knowledge – Familiarity with designing for web-based platforms (no mobile app development required, but mobile responsiveness is a key focus).
• Analytical Thinking – Ability to critically evaluate platform features and propose user-friendly solutions.

BIG PLUS

• Experience with educational or e-learning platforms would be beneficial.
• A portfolio showcasing previous UI/UX projects, especially in guided learning experiences or dashboard designs.
